Village Halls Week – Thursday

#VillageHallsWeek #NetZero

The village hall invested in solar energy in 2016. The installation not only helps reduce our electricity costs and climate impact but also provides around £1,000 per annum of income from excess generation back to the grid.

We are currently awaiting an energy audit to see what we can do further to reduce the halls impact on our environment.

We pledge to review our sustainability policy with a view to incorporating the findings of the energy audit and communicating with local people and visitors upon any initiatives.

Village Halls Week Coffee Morning

#VillageHallsWeek

Come along and give us your thoughts for new activities, events and uses for our village hall. Or just enjoy a coffee with friends.

Village Halls Week – Wednesday

#VillageHallsWeek #RuralTouring

The Hall has recently installed an exhibition of art by a local Art Group.  It brightens up our foyer and provides publicity – for both individual artists and as an art group.  We also still display the poem ‘A Teapot as Big as the Moon’ by Ian McMillan in celebration of the first Village Halls Week in 2018.

We are now making plans for our bi-annual Panto in 2023 – having missed a year due to the pandemic.  The panto brings together the community to work together in various ways.  We have backstage crew, building the set, painting the scenery, moving the set during performances, lighting crew, and of course the musicians, cast and our long-suffering producer/director.

Village Halls Week – Tuesday

#VillageHallsWeek #ForEveryone

The hall currently provides a wide range of activities and events for all ages.  We are committed to expanding our offering and are reviewing and restructuring our hire charges to provide the hall free of charge to certain non-profit activities that are of benefit to our community.  The details and terms of this commitment require development, we pledge to have this implemented during the first quarter of 2022.

Bishopswood Village Hall are supporting the “A Better Bishopswood” project that amongst other items is proposing the development of a village green in close proximity to the hall, providing facilities for a village fete, and more outdoor events and activities.

On Saturday 29th January 10:00am until 12.00 noon we will be holding a coffee morning at the hall, where you can come along and chat about any ideas that you have for the future of the hall, we would love to hear from you.
