Cry of the Norwolf

Local children’s author, Ian Young, has written a fantasy novel for children 8+. It tells the story of a ten-year-old boy, Arkyn, whose world is turned upside down when he stumbles upon a young animal that has fallen into a hunters’ trap. The animal, known as a norwolf, is one of the most feared creatures to come from the dreaded Frozen Forest, a remote wilderness forbidden to Arkyn and his band of friends.  Torn between helping the pup or following the advice of his friends and killing it, Arkyn’s encounter with the animal changes his life forever, leading to a discovery about himself that might be even more dangerous than the norwolf itself. Everything he knew about the familiar environment of his childhood is torn to pieces as Arkyn is exposed to a world that he struggles to understand, let alone accept.
