The Hall has recently installed an exhibition of art by a local Art Group. It brightens up our foyer and provides publicity – for both individual artists and as an art group. We also still display the poem ‘A Teapot as Big as the Moon’ by Ian McMillan in celebration of the first Village Halls Week in 2018.
We are now making plans for our bi-annual Panto in 2023 – having missed a year due to the pandemic. The panto brings together the community to work together in various ways. We have backstage crew, building the set, painting the scenery, moving the set during performances, lighting crew, and of course the musicians, cast and our long-suffering producer/director.

The hall currently provides a wide range of activities and events for all ages. We are committed to expanding our offering and are reviewing and restructuring our hire charges to provide the hall free of charge to certain non-profit activities that are of benefit to our community. The details and terms of this commitment require development, we pledge to have this implemented during the first quarter of 2022.
Bishopswood Village Hall are supporting the “A Better Bishopswood” project that amongst other items is proposing the development of a village green in close proximity to the hall, providing facilities for a village fete, and more outdoor events and activities.

#VillageHallsWeek #ForEveryone

The overall theme for this year’s campaign is “Innovating for the future”, improving the way your hall is run and making an even bigger difference to your community.
Each day we will be using local websites and social media to share stories about what we are doing and making pledges to improve. Maybe you have an idea about a new activity, improvements to the way the hall is run, how we might contribute to environmental issues?
At the end of this week, we will be holding a coffee morning at Bishopswood Village Hall, Saturday 29th January 10am – 12noon – come along and share your thoughts.

#VillageHallsWeek #DoDifferent.

Monday marks the beginning of Village Halls Week a national campaign, shining a spotlight on the contribution England’s 10,000+ village halls make to rural communities. It is an opportunity for hall management committees to celebrate their work and get inspiration from others.
The fifth annual campaign challenges halls to do something different and innovate for the future.
Halls do much to improve life for local residents, often providing the only local space where people gather, combating loneliness, and delivering a wide range of activities and services.
Each week day of Village Halls Week has a different theme, halls are encouraged to share what they are doing or pledge something for the future within each theme. Bishopswood Village Hall will be sharing it’s stories and pledges each day on the Bishopswood Village Website and social media, so visit each day to keep up.
