“A Life Well Lived”

HM Queen Elizabeth II

Following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, it is His Majesty The King’s wish that a period of Royal Mourning be observed from now until seven days after The Queen’s Funeral. The date of the Funeral will be confirmed in due course.

Royal Mourning will be observed by Members of the Royal Family, Royal Household staff and Representatives of the Royal Household on official duties, together with troops committed to Ceremonial Duties.

At the Bishopswood Village Hall the Union flag is currently flying at half-mast to signify the start of the official period of mourning as a sign of respect to her Majesty the Queen. The flag will be raised on Saturday 10th September between 9:00am and 10:30am for the proclamation of the new King and will remain raised until 1:00pm on Sunday 11th September. The flag will then be lowered back to half-mast and will be flown this way until 8:00am on the day after Her Majesty’s funeral. This is in line with official protocol.
