Following on from their previous run of hugely successful sell-out shows, The Bishopswood Pantomime Players are delighted to present their exciting new production for 2025 of “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves”.
This is the captivating tale of a poor wood-cutter named Ali Baba and his rich elder brother Cassim. Ali is deeply in love with the servant girl Safiya and desperately wants to marry her. However, he doesn’t have the money to buy her freedom.
Despite the help and interventions of the hapless Mum Baba (Ali and Cassim’s mother) and their family camel Kamil, Ali still has to overcome the evil Mustafa Leikh and his ever decreasing number of thieves!!
One day, Ali Baba is out collecting firewood in the forest, and happens upon a group of thieves visiting their treasure store. The treasure is in a cave, the mouth of which is opened and sealed by a magic phrase – which he overhears. When the thieves are gone, Ali enters the cave himself and discreetly takes some bags of gold coins home so that he can buy the freedom of his beloved Safiya.
As the thieves try to recapture their treasure by any dastardly means possible, a frantic fun-filled adventure ensues that will undoubtedly enthral and delight audiences of all ages.
